David Choi specialises in minimally invasive endoscopic approaches to the anterior skull base through the nose for tumours such as chordomas and chondrosarcomas. Sometimes operations are required through the mouth ("transoral surgery") for these complex tumours, and often radiation treatment is also required after surgery.

Cases are discussed in a multidisciplinary team meeting including other neurosurgeons, ear-nose-throat surgeons, pathologists, radiologists, nurse specialists and allied staff.

He is a council member for the British Skull Base Society, and member of the NHS Proton Overseas Programme for triage and approval of funding for patients to have proton beam therapy abroad, usually in the USA or Switzerland.
